FAQs
What are the benefits of therapy and will it help me?
One major benefit that may be gained from participating in therapy is the resolution of the concerns brought to therapy. Other possible benefits may be a better ability to cope with marital, family, and other interpersonal relationships, and/or a greater understanding of personal goals and values. Therapy often brings clarity to situations and illuminates previous blind spots. It is an opportunity to build a therapeutic relationship with a professional to establish stability in one’s life.
Psychotherapy is a collaborative process and the progress you make will depend in large measure upon your investment in the process. This includes but is not limited to being open and honest with your therapist, participating in sessions as scheduled, completing assignments outside of the therapy session as agreed upon, and communicating your needs on an ongoing basis. It is also helpful to provide feedback to your therapist on things that have worked well and things that have not worked well. This creates an opportunity for exploration and problem solving. Again, it is the collaboration between you, the client and your therapist that makes this relationship beneficial.
How does therapy work?
During the first session, our work will primarily focus on reviewing the information provided within the intake process, discussing the concern(s) that brought you to therapy, and identifying initial goals for treatment. It is also a time to be sure the therapist you are working with is a good fit for you.
Throughout the therapy process, you may experience the recollection of unpleasant events. Becoming aware of emotions attached to those events can bring on strong feelings of anger, depression, anxiety, etc. There are no miracle cures and we cannot promise your behavior or circumstance will change. We do promise to support you and do our best to understand you, as well as to help you clarify what you want for yourself. To do this, we may administer a number of assessments, screeners, or use other tools to aid in diagnosing and treating you. While diagnosing is required for insurance, our treatment approach focuses on the entire person.
How does online therapy work?
Our office offers telehealth therapeutic services, also known as online therapy. This is done using HIPAA compliant, internet-based platforms. Telehealth involves the use of electronic communications to enable the mental health professionals of RDH Counseling and Consulting, LLC to connect with individuals using interactive video and audio communications. Telehealth includes the practice of psychological health care delivery, diagnosis, consultation, treatment, referral to resources, education, and the transfer of medical and clinical data.
Individuals wishing to participate in telehealth (online therapy) must have a smart device (phone, computer, tablet, iPad, laptop, etc.) with a stable internet connection.
Are you accepting new clients in person?
At this time, we are only accepting telehealth (online) clients.
Do I need insurance to see a therapist?
RDH Counseling and Consulting, LLC will bill insurance for telehealth services when these services have been determined to be covered by your (the client’s) insurance plan. If insurance does not cover telehealth, the client (or guarantor) wishes to pay out-of-pocket, or when there is no insurance coverage, a cash payment option is available. Additionally, if you would like to seek reimbursement under your insurance plan’s out of network benefits, we will provide you with a statement of service to submit to your insurance company upon your request.
